Working at Heights Courses

Managing Working at Height

This course is designed for managers, supervisor, clients and anyone who is required to create, implement and maintain a safe system of work for working at height. The course provides theoretical knowledge on current legislation, responsibilities, equipment and procedures. It also provides practical experience on using the equipment to get a better understanding of working at height and the environment.

Harness Selection and Correct Use

This course is designed for people who are required to work in specific locations where there is a need to wear a harness. The course provides theoretical knowledge on the working at height regulations and awareness of responsibilities. The practical training covers harness selection, per-use checks, fitting and the selection of the correct work restraint lanyard.

Using Personal Fall Protection Equipment

This course is designed for people who are required to work in specific locations where there is a need to be protected against a fall. The course provides theoretical knowledge on the working at height regulations and awareness of responsibilities involved with fall protection training. The practical training covers the correct equipment to be used, pre-use checking of equipment, installation and methods of use for specific types of fall protection equipment.

Rescue Courses

Martin Castle Ltd can advise on establishing a rescue plan that encompasses training and rescue equipment package. It is essential that there is a specific rescue plan and resources in place for each worksite and that there are regularly assessed and updated where necessary. Resources should include not only equipment but also trained personnel. The main priority for rescuers is to take a casualty to a position where expert medical help can take over.

Work at height should never be undertaken without first having identified rescue plan as part of the risk assessment procedure. The rescue plan should be discussed with all team members so that everyone is clear as to their role in the event of a rescue scenario. Emergency services cannot always be relied on as not all have rope rescue capability and, depending on location and the nature of the injuries, may not be quick enough.

Tailored Training Courses

We specialise in work at height training, so if you cannot find the right course for your company then we can tailor make a course to suit your needs.

Martin Castle Ltd can come to you and advise you on the best and most appropriate training that will suit your needs. We can design a training course that will include the current legislation and responsibilities, as well as the practical training that will cover the correct equipment to be used, pre-use checks of equipment, use of PPE equipment and how to work with the equipment.

The training would also cover the appropriate equipment needed for your environment, as well as helping to create an equipment log book and put in place an inspection process. It is important that your company ensures it adheres to LOLER Regulations. We can help you put in place a rescue plan that will encompass a training and rescue equipment package.

We got in touch with Martin do some training as we needed to access above our gallery spaces for installing works of art. Our group was a range of men & women from experienced climbers to complete novices, Martin managed to supply us with a course that took this into account & was tailored specifically to our environment.
It was a very interesting course and really opened our eyes to the difficulties that we might encounter should things go wrong, he gave us concise & practical knowledge on how to operate safely & how to get our people out & down should an accident happen. I liked Martin’s no nonsense approach to the training in both the theory & practical, he is methodical & makes sure you fully understands what he is teaching you.
He also advised & supplied us on what additional equipment we needed to fill in the gaps of our existing stock, again all very practical & no nonsense.
We were very impressed with the service we received from Martin Castle & will continue to use him for our equipment testing & any future training / refresher courses.
